How do the two dialers work, what does the desktop dialer do, and how do I set up caller ID?
With Green Weka, you have two ways to make calls: your phone’s normal dialer and the Green Weka dialer, which is available in both the mobile app and on your desktop dashboard. Both use your usual mobile number, so nothing changes for people calling you or when you call out.
Normal dialer:
Calls made through your phone’s built-in dialer are not captured or analysed by Green Weka. Use this for personal calls or any call you don’t want recorded. These calls cost nothing extra from Green Weka.
Green Weka dialer (mobile and desktop):
Calls made through the Green Weka dialer are fully captured, transcribed and analysed. Incoming calls are free. What outgoing calls cost depends on where your business number is. If your number is in New Zealand or Australia, national calls cost US$0.06 a minute, calls to the United States and Canada are free, and a list of supported international destinations costs US$0.10 a minute. If your number is in the United States, national calling is unlimited (fair use), calls to Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom are free, and supported international destinations cost US$0.10 a minute. Calls between Green Weka users are always free. The pricing topic has the full destination lists. Use this dialer for work calls you want to keep track of, have transcribed, or need action items pulled from.
You never have to use the Green Weka dialer if you don’t want to. Outgoing calls from your normal dialer are not captured and cost nothing from Green Weka. Incoming calls are always captured, no matter which dialer the other person uses.
The desktop dialer at app.greenweka.com/dialer works just like the mobile app dialer. When you open it, you’ll see three columns: the keypad, your contacts and recent calls, and a contact card for whoever you’ve selected or typed. The contact card shows their recent calls, emails and chats.
You can click a contact or recent call to open their card, then hover and click the green phone button to dial straight away. Typing a number that matches a contact opens their card too. With nothing selected, you’ll see a Suggested panel with “Call back” (people who rang you and haven’t been called back), “Frequent” (your most-called contacts), and a My Team strip showing which teammates are free or on a call.
Recent voicemails show with a badge and a Play button. In-call controls include mute, a timer, speaker picker and keypad for phone menus. If you’re on an incoming call, you can use “Put through” to transfer the call to a teammate from your My Team list. If they’re already on a call, you can send the caller to their voicemail. If they don’t answer, the caller goes to that teammate’s voicemail or Receptionist. Both dashboards get their part of the call.
The desktop dialer also works in a phone browser, but the phone apps are the better tool on a mobile. If you want teammates to ring with you on incoming calls, see the Also ring feature on the Unanswered calls page. More in the voicemail topic.
When you make an outgoing call from the Green Weka dialer, the person you’re calling will see your usual mobile number, once caller ID is set up. Caller ID is now self-serve for everyone. Just open your user card in the dashboard, click 'verify', your phone will ring, and you’ll enter a 6-digit confirmation code. That’s it. Flock users don’t need to do this step, as they don’t call outside numbers.
If caller ID isn’t set up, your number might not show as expected to the person you’re calling. Green Weka will guide you through this process.
Good habits: Set personal contacts to Capture OFF in the app if you want to make sure those calls aren’t captured, even if you use the Green Weka dialer by mistake. Tidy up your contacts now and then using the Review banner in Contacts: this helps keep your call records clear and accurate.
